John Lennon

In 1969, John Lennon wrote the song "Give Peace a Chance." In the beginning of this interview he talks about the importance of the individual in spreading peace and making a difference. As he states, "we give the government the power it has," we need to stand up and make a change. It seems that to make a successful utopian society his ideal would be a key component, without the want and know of how to spread peace, the society will not last and certainly not develop into the perfect society. I also found this video interesting because it was done by a 14 year old, who snuck into John Lennon's hotel room and convinced him to give this interview. Enjoy :)

I really enjoyed this video because the visual representation made it straightforward and simple to understand the progression and development of establishing peace in society and how one thing must lead to another effectively. John Lennon states that “we put [the government] there and we allow it, and we can change if we really want to change it.” This is an inspiring quote that made me think about the power of voting and how each individual plays a role in creating a functioning utopia. This video has a great message towards the importance of peace!

Simply amazing, both the animation and everything that was said. John Lennon is THE MAN. On numerous occasions, he mentioned looking "inside yourself" to create world peace, and to get rid of internal anger. I thought that was particularly insightful and a good quote for me, as I'm planning to do my project on inner peace. Everything he said made sense, and I completely agree with Jorgi.

You mentioned "Give Peace a Chance" which is a great song. That wasn't his one peaceful song though -- far from it. "Imagine," "Power to the People," "Instant Karma" and many others are all CLASSICS. For anyone not familiar with John Lennon, stop doing your homework and go look him up. He's awesome.

Thank you for posting that video!!

It is an interesting point to bring up that "we give the power to the government". We complain on some many levels of what is going on in our government and focus directly on the bad. However, we rarely step back and realize that we are the ones who gave the government the power to do such. We speak so often of peace in our nation and what needs to happen in our government system. But the truth of the matter is that we, the people, are the ones who must first take the step towards doing such. As citizens we need to be involved and particiapte in creating peace. For so long the majority has stood watching to see what happens. We need to become a proactive nation!

This was great. I really enjoyed the visuals because they were simple and silly and yet pretty powerful. The part when he talks about the government really stuck in my head too as well as the part where he said we are all voilent. "we are all hitlers and we are all Jesus." Our nature as humans is to react certain ways to things, but we really do have such power to evoke great change. I mean, look at the video... its proof. A 14 year old boy snuck into john lennon's room and got him to speak about a topic with huge magnitude that makes people change their perspective. He's 14! we are older and should be taking the initiative to try and spark creative and peaceful thinking as well. We all can make a difference.
